Introduction to Eye Anatomy

Task:
  1. Watch this video: "How Light Enters the Eye." 
  2. Explore this webpage's Diagram of the Eye.
  3. Pick one part of the eye from the diagram.
  4. Read more about that part on the "Parts of the Eye" webpage. To read more on the webpage, click the button that looks like this on the bottom right of page:
  5. Enter a comment on this page and explain what your part does for the eye. What is its job?

  5. The purpose of the eye lids is to protect, clean, and keep the eyes moist. They do this by blinking and closing voluntarily and involuntarily.

  8. The pupil is the black spot of your eye. It helps the light to get in your eye. If there is too much light it gets smaller.

  10. The optic nerve is the messenger in the back of the eye. The optic nerve is like a high speed telephone connecting the eye to the brain.
    Will you go blind if you damage the optic nerve?

  15. For me the most interesting is the lens. this little lens, changing its curvature, allows you to focus images on the retina. To have a perfect image, the lens will have bent or flattened depending on the distance that separates it from the object.

    we really mean blue Irises! The Iris has muscules attached to it that changes its shape.

  33. When the light hits the eye it first goes threw the pupil then ones its gone threw there it refracts or bends threw the cornea.
    The lens which is behind the pupil contains high crystallized protein.

  35. The iris is the part of the eye that is colored. If you look in someone's eyes you see that they are blue or any other color. The iris has muscles that let the light in the pupil.

    Sometimes people call eyes blue, but is eye-rise.
